The TH McKay Scholarship Fund, established in 1985 by her son and his wife, John and Dorothy Ruffin, was dedicated to Mount View AME Zion Church in memory of Theima Harris McKay. Mrs. McKay was a revered Christian church leader and a committed educator in the Chatham County school system.
As a devoted teacher, she tirelessly worked to uplift and empower her students, instilling in them the values of perseverance, integrity, and a love for learning. Her contributions to the church as a Christian leader were equally significant, as she nurtured the congregation's spiritual growth and served as a role model for all.
The scholarship fund honors her legacy by providing educational opportunities to deserving students and continuing her lifelong mission of fostering academic excellence and spiritual growth within the community. Through this fund, the Ruffins aim to perpetuate Mrs. McKay's passion for education and dedication to nurturing the next generation.
